Being Thankful

As we get into the fall, and the holiday time, I find myself being thankful for so many things. I have been reading a LOT of other blogs, and found something on Kathy Osmond's blog  that I thought was worthy of re-posting here.

Be thankful that you don’t already have everything you desire.
If you did, what would there be to look forward to?
Be thankful when you don’t know something,
for it gives you the opportunity to learn.
Be thankful for the difficult times.
During those times you grow.
Be thankful for your limitations,
because they give you opportunities for improvement.
Be thankful for each new challenge,
because it will build your strength and character.
Be thankful for your mistakes. They will teach
you valuable lessons.
Be thankful when you’re tired and weary,
because it means you’ve made a difference.
It’s easy to be thankful for the good things.
A life of rich fulfillment comes to those who
are also thankful for the setbacks.
Gratitude can turn a negative into a positive.
Find a way to be thankful for your troubles,
and they can become your blessings.

This post has made me think of my troubles, and how I can turn them into blessings. I am trying to embrace my new challenges, and be thankful for my mistakes. This is NOT an easy task.
But that is what reflection and proper attitude adjustments (butt kicking lessons) are all about!

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!

30 Days about Me:Day 30

First I can't believe that I have actually completed this challenge! I took a bit longer than the 30 days, but I am still finishing it.
Thanks for following me for the month. I WILL be continuing on with other randomness!
Day 30- A dream for the future beyond the next year…think long term

You don’t have life if you don’t have a dream. You have to have something to aim for. ~ Morgan Freeman

A Dream for the future. Wow. Ok - This is NOT a bucket list, but just dreams/goals.

  1. I dream of being debt free. Right now there are 2 credit cards, the house, and a vehicle. Small list for me, since we have gotten rid of 3 other major expenses so far this year.
  2. I dream of a new refrigerator. Mine is starting to fall apart.
  3. I dream of getting into better shape. I am working on this too. (I know round is a shape, but I am looking for more of an hour glass!)
  4. I dream of future grandchildren. NOT saying I want them yet, but once the kids (all the kids) get some stability in their lives.
  5. I dream of an actual honeymoon with my Hubby. When we first got married it was a quick weekend because I was still in school. Now that we are older, I think we should take a week and do something just for a vacation/honeymoon.
  6. Eventually I hope to have enough clients to support all the testing, programs, and supplies for my business so that I don't have to use the cards mentioned above!
  7. Go on a cruise?
  8. Be healthy enough to hike the Grand Canyon
  9. Keep my home happy enough to have people over at any time with out the stress!
  10. To encourage others to dream THEIR dreams. Dreams are what makes the world work!
Thanks again for joining me on the journey for the 30 day challenge.

30 Days about Me:Day 27

Day 27- Worst Habit

Bad habits = obsessing about perfection to the point it becomes painful, not realizing when I've said too much, procrastination. I'm sure there's more, but that's enough for right now.

30 Days about Me:Day 26

Day 26- Favorite clothing store.

Well, since I am a bigger gal, my (affordable) stores are WalMart, Sears, JC Penny, and Lane Bryant (exclusively plus size and pretty clothing).

30 Days about Me:Day 25

Day 25- Who is/are your best friends?

Best friends - Hubby - The one person who has loved me unconditionally (besides parents). He has never stopped loving me even when I felt like I wasn't worthy. He holds me when I need it, lifts me up when I need, pushes me to be better when I don't feel like I can be. He tells me I am beautiful when I don't see it, he has accepted me with all my faults, and has NEVER tried to change me to suit his wants/image of perfect. I feel so privileged to be able to spend the rest of my days with this wonderful man.

Chuckie - My darling daughter Charlotte. She is a blessing in so many ways, and has taught me such strong lessons in others. I wish I could prevent the heartaches she will face, but she, like me, will learn the hard way.  She is funny, moody, and vicious if provoked! She will defend her point till the cows come home if she thinks she is right. And she will make you melt with a great hug. She is a really good listener, and wont hesitate to give you her opinion. (They can be STRONG)

She was trying to keep them apart! Jon couldn't stop laughing, Nichelle played her part, but NEITHER of mine could control their laughter!

Senior 2011

Gayle - I met Gayle at Snow College. She is a year younger than my mom, and despite the age difference, we hit it off. She is a very strong woman. She is a wife, mother and grandmother. She has experienced things no mother ever should, the loss of a child. She has taught me a lot, and shown me how valuable patience is.

Mom - She has been there through the toughest times, and through the best times. I know she has sacrificed for me, has gone through some of the toughest times I have ever thought of for me and my siblings. She is the one who hugged me close when my heart had been broken. She is the one who gave advice (wanted or not) that I should have learned from! She helped me when I couldn't walk after Jonathan was born, was the one who listened when I couldn't hear. She has prayed for me when she thought I wasn't going down the right path. She has used strong language to guide me, she has even used strong hands from time to time. There truly aren't enough words to tell about my mom.
